Why a music class for babies?

Research affirms the musical development that is encouraged in baby music classes, beginning with the youngest students. With babies attending Kindermusik classes in Bolton from literally 6 days old (our youngest!), we focus on the natural skills of beat and rhythm, as we introduce different styles, metres, tempos and pitches whilst bouncing, tapping instruments or moving to the beat.

Neuroscience has shown that introduction to new activities is not enough, as it is repetition of these activities that creates 'grooves' in the neural pathways, creating stronger connections and better memories. London taxi drivers taking 'The Knowledge', for example, change their entire brain structure (parts of their brain grow larger) by memorising routes to virtually every road in London - evidence of how 'practice makes perfect'!

This is why classes are held weekly, with students able to continue their favourite class during the week between sessions, using home music packs.

WELCOME TO MUSICALITI!

Classes for babies newborn to 18 months include times of movement as well as relaxation, introducing music techniques and genres in a loving, warm and safe environment.  Taking part with a special caregiver encourages bonding and nurturing, instilling confidence and enjoyment of music that can last a lifetime.

Toddlers with more independence, whether with mum or at nursery, begin to explore musical concepts in their bodies, stepping and stopping to musical cues.  We develope awareness of different genres, timbres, using imitation and playing music both solo and within an ensemble.

Children from reception to 7 years transfer the skills they have been developing to instruments including the glockenspiel, dulcimer/ukulele and recorder, introducing them to keyboard, percussion, woodwind and string instruments that they may take forward into formal musical tuition.

Learning has never been so much fun!
