Arley Hall and Gardens

SMALL VISITOR ATTRACTION OF THE YEAR 2006 in England's Northwest

Rated as one of the top gardens by Roy Lancaster, they are a plantsman's paradise with a huge collection of plants ranging from shrub roses through to perennials and exotic trees and shrubs.  Arley also boasts the oldest and finest double herbaceous border in England, first laid out in 1840 by Rowland Egerton Warburton and his wife, Mary.

arley_hall_ta_winner_colour The Victorian Jacobean Hall, rebuilt by Rowland, the great great great grandfather of the present Viscount Ashbrook, brings together a family home, a venue for exciting events and a beautiful place to marry. With exquisite ornate ceilings, atmospheric panelling and family treasures, the Hall is very much a living home and gives a welcoming atmosphere to all its visitors.arley-pic
