Travel through
time and touch the past. Staircase House is a beautifully restored town
house situated in Stockport's historic market place. The house is
famous for its rare Jacobean cage newell staircase, one of only three
examples in Britain.
When
visiting the house you will journey through time from its humble
beginnings as a medieval cruck framed building to the splendour of the
17th century
town house and on to WWII. There are no ropes or barriers - you are
invited to smell, touch and listen on a fun and informative journey
through time accompanied by state-of-the-art audio guide available in
English, French, German, Cantonese and Urdu.
