Staircase House

Travel through time and touch the past. Staircase House is a beautifully restored town house situated in Stockport's historic market place. The house is famous for its rare Jacobean cage newell staircase, one of only three examples in Britain.

christmas_workshop_024 When visiting the house you will journey through time from its humble beginnings as a medieval cruck framed building to the splendour of the 17th century town house and on to WWII. There are no ropes or barriers - you are invited to smell, touch and listen on a fun and informative journey through time accompanied by state-of-the-art audio guide available in English, French, German, Cantonese and Urdu.
