THE MAGIC OF PUPPETS AND MASKS at Stockport Story Museum
Just in time for the kids holidays Stockport Story Museum has opened a brand new exhibition exploring the fascinating world of puppets and masks. The art of puppetry is a long celebrated art form which transforms inanimate and lifeless objects into charismatic, endearing or scary characters simply by the expert movements of the hand that controls them. This exhibition explores the ancient traditions and uses of puppets and masks and highlights what a global language this art form really is.
PAPIER MACHE PUPPET MAKING
Wednesday 1 and Thursday 2 August
10.00am - 12.00noon and 1.00pm - 3.00pm
(Morning 4 - 7 years, afternoon 8 - 11 years)
Get messy with papier mache as you design and make your very own puppet. This is a two day event, make your papier mache puppet shape on Wednesday and then decorate it and bring it to life on Thursday! Wear old clothes.

Surprise yourself by making a magical shadow puppet and use it to bring a story to life. Then take it home with you to amaze your friends!

DECORATIVE VENETIAN MASKS
Monday 13 & Thursday 16 August
10.00am - 12 noon (7 - 14 year olds)
Inspired by the masks in our Special Exhibition, come to this unusual two day workshop and learn how to make your own unique Venetian mask from someone who learned the traditional way. You will get messy with papier mache on Monday and decorate it on Thursday. Your family and friends will be impressed with your fab and funky, decorative mask!
