| Welcome one and all to our sensational Autumn/Winter Season here at your local Plaza Theatre and Super Cinema.
For over 75 years this magnificent art deco venue in the very heart of stockport has provided in its various guises top class entertainment and leisure opportunities, a proud tradition which we continue today with an eclectic mix of live theatre, cinema and training with our volunteers and our resident theatre company Plaza Youth. 2008 is a pivotal year in the Plaza’s history with our aim to finish raising the initial £1 million required to match fund a restoration award from the Heritage Lottery Fund and with only £120,000 to go we need your support! There are a number of ways that you can support the restoration of this magnificent art deco building which is truly at the heart of the Stockport and Greater Manchester community and arts scene. On successful completion of our appeal we will be able to close the Plaza for 10 short months in 2009 whilst the façade and public areas of Stockport’s Grade II* listed building are restored to their magnificent former glory, we will also be installing new bars, a restaurant and a lift all designed to make your visit enjoyable and memorable and serve the community at large. By attending one of the many events listed on this site you will also be showing your support. So whether it’s one of our classic film presentations, free to attend open days, top quality concerts or this year’s sensational family pantomime Cinderella I thank you in advance for your ongoing support and hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you in person to your Stockport Plaza in the very near future.
